Non-Fiction Critical Analysis Blogpost 

        In the article " Illegal Poaching in Africa" by Leilani Jordan, she talks about how bad poaching is especially in Africa and what they are doing to try and fix it. The article mainly focuses on elephants and rhinos. Both mostly occurring in Africa. The author talks about how poaching animals has been growing and growing since the 1980's. These animals are going to be extinct if people don't do something about it. Poaching is very illegal but the poachers still find a way to kill and sell the innocent animals on the black market. Rhinos and elephants are mostly hunted for the materials in their tusks and horns. Jordan says that "Earlier this year, over 1,200 tusks were discovered in Tanzania". That is a crazy amount considering that is just from one country. Elephants are becoming more endangered every year. Rhinos are a whole other story. White Rhinos numbers are now down to 4 in the entire world. Animals al across the world are being hunted illegally by poachers.

      Jordan wants the reader to know that poachers are going to drive a lot of endangered animals into extinction and unless we do something this will happen. Jordan states that "the black rhino, whose overall population in Africa has decreased by 83% since 1980". That is a big number. People need to take act on the illegal crimes that are killing all these animals. There is some hope though. Elephants in Africa have been growing at a steady rate the last few years. The african government has begun making many new enforcements that help the wildlife in Africa and crack down on more poachers. Hopefully this situation gets better and resolved before they go extinct.

        This has made me realize that people don't pay enough attention to what is going on to these poor animals all across the world. The article informed me about specific animals who are being heavily targeted by poachers. The author does a good job finding facts that prove how out of hand this issue is becoming. People need to rise up and deal with this matter before it is to late.
